Armour of every age and culture, made to order

Here is my latest work shown in progress. A bronze (c220 commercial bronze) cuirass modelled on the Marmesse cuirasses, and fit with a mitra based on Cretan examples and decorated to match.

I have finished work on my latest Vendel helm! To see the whole description, follow the link.

14 gauge steel throughout, tinned copper pressblech plates (made from 9 matrices) meters of reeded brass trim, and an aventail of riveted/solid mail, all topped off with a boar crest.

Here is the finished nasal of my ongoing Vendel project, made of 14 gauge steel with tinned copper pressblech and brass trim. The trim on the lower edge is perforated for the riveted mail I will be fitting.

Vendel progress - the copper foil has arrived and I have pulled some preliminary impressions from the matrices. The one with the silvery finish has been tinned, as they all will. The brass crest, boar’s heads and brows are rough forged, as seen by a few representative pieces in the photo. It should all start coming together tomorrow!
